Thermal spray coatings made from tungsten carbide materials in a cobalt matrix provide excellent wear protection. For applications requiring enhanced corrosion resistance, using a matrix of nickel, cobalt-chromium, or cobalt-chromium-nickel is ideal. Coatings with a higher matrix percentage offer improved ductility, enhancing impact and fretting resistance. On the other hand, a lower matrix percentage increases hardness, which improves abrasion and wear resistance.
