Nickel aluminides powder is a type of intermetallic compound powder composed mainly of nickel (Ni) and aluminum (Al), such as NiAl, Ni3Al, or NiAl3. It is created through alloying processes and combines the properties of metals and ceramics, offering exceptional mechanical performance and thermal stability.
Type | Characteristics |
NiAl | The most common nickel aluminide compound, with a B2 crystal structure. MP: 1638°C; density: 5.9 g/cm3. High strength and stiffness at elevated temperatures. |
Ni3Al | Ordered L12 crystal structure. Melting point 1390°C. Oxidation resistance up to 1200°C. |
NiAl3 | Simple cubic, crystal structure; brittle intermetallic; oxidation resistant to 1000°C. |
nickel aluminide powder, Ni3Al, NiAl3, NiAl, nickel intermetallic compound, nickel aluminide powder (Ni3Al or NiAl3), IC-221M (cast), nickel- aluminum ordered alloy, nickel monoaluminide, sponge-metal, Raney-nickel, aluminum- nickel, ASTM A1002-99, the aluminum compound with nickel (1:1).
Used in everything from processing glass to making dies for forming beverage containers and other shapes from metal. Also widely used in automobile and tool companies. Also, rotating parts, dies, high temp. wear-resistant parts, permanent molds, turbocharger rotors, etc.
